How it works

Stimulates the pituitary to release growth hormone by mimicking ghrelin. Unlike Ipamorelin (which is selective), GHRP-6 also raises cortisol and prolactin at higher doses, and produces a strong hunger signal — which can be advantageous during a muscle-building phase where caloric surplus is the goal.

Research summary

One of the earliest synthetic GHRPs with a well-established pre-clinical and clinical profile. Multiple human studies confirm GH pulse augmentation. Clinical use has largely shifted to more selective compounds (Ipamorelin) due to the cortisol and prolactin side effects. Still used by some practitioners specifically for the appetite-stimulating effect in underweight or muscle-wasting patients.

How this connects to your protocol

On GH and IGF-1 protocols, protein is your primary building material. Without sufficient amino acid availability, peptide-driven anabolic signals have nothing to build with.

Targets are evidence-based estimates. Consult your practitioner for personalised advice.

Risks & side effects

Strong appetite stimulation — can make controlled eating difficult
Raises cortisol and prolactin at higher doses unlike selective GHRPs
Injection frequency (2–3x daily) is demanding vs once-nightly alternatives
Schedule 4 — prescription required in Australia
Largely superseded by Ipamorelin for most protocols due to better selectivity
