How it works

Beta-alanine is the rate-limiting precursor to carnosine, a dipeptide stored in muscle fibres that buffers hydrogen ions (the chemical cause of the 'burn' during intense exercise). Higher carnosine = longer time to fatigue = more training volume = more muscle stimulus.

What to look for

CarnoSyn-branded beta-alanine is the most studied form with the most consistent results. The tingling (paraesthesia) is harmless and reduces over time with regular use. Split doses to 1.6g each to manage it.
